Meet The Build & Operations Team
Anna & Ray have been living together in a small village in North Essex for the last 10 years or so. Anna works in the Laser industry whilst Ray is very happily in retirement mode.
Anna and Ray are also members of a touring folk band "Two Coats Colder" which takes up quite a lot of their time.
Anna also enjoys horse riding, carriage driving, running and Kayaking. Ray keeps tropical fish and drinks lots of tea Lol :-)
Both Anna and Ray came to model railways quite late in life and have only been actively pursuing their hobby for 4 years.
Living in a very small house Ray was trying to think of ways to have a small railway without all the normal storage problems and getting in Annas way. The idea of possibly building a layout in a coffee table came his way (Not an original idea but a solution) So one day Ray decided to ask Anna if she would mind sharing the front room with a coffee table layout. To his surprise Anna jumped at the chance and not only loved the idea she also wanted to be in on the build...........and the rest as they say is history Lol ;-)

Running DCC through a Roco z21 Controller with its own Wi Fi connection to allow control from a smart phone of Pad.

The original table was recycled from a discarded pine bed. The exhibition version is made from stained white wood and ihas been made to come apart easily for transportation.

The railway station is situated on the outskirts of Feldspar, a small market town somewhere right in the middle of England. The layout is set in the late '50s / early '60s; heavy industry - mining for the local granodiorite (a granite-like rock) - has tapered off and the Criollo & Co. chocolate factory is now the town's largest employer. The railway services that, and a coal yard, as well as the town.

What is Feldspar ? ……… “Feldspar” is a component of granite rock. Granodiorite is particularly rich in feldspar.

What is ”Criollo" ? ………. Criolio is the finest of the three types of cocoa bean used in the chocolate industry (and, not at all coincidentally, is also the name of a type of horse - a tip of the hat to one of Anna's other main interests).
